Lions and Bailey’s make holiday donation to FISH

Lions teamed up with Bailey’s General and members of the Bailey family, Francis Bailey and Richard and Mead Johnson, to purchase and donate more than $500 worth of food to Friends In Service Here (F.I.S.H.). The presentation took place at the Lion’s Christmas Tree Lot in the Bailey’s Center, a popular place for buying that special tree. The Bailey’s van was filled with much needed items for the F.I.S.H food pantry.
Each year LionsClub charities raise money for deserving causes, including F.I.S.H and other local organizations that provide help and relief for local families.
“The Sanibel Captiva Lions Club would like to thank Bailey’s for helping us make this great donation,” said Tom Hoover, a former president of the Lions Club. “We are delighted that we could provide additional help to people in need at this time.”
For more than 29 years, F.I.S.H. has been lending a helping hand to those in need who live, work or visit Sanibel and Captiva by providing free human services such as transportation for medical appointments, meal delivery, health equipment, food pantry, and emergency financial assistance through a group of volunteers who care about the quality of life for all those who request help. The organization serves over 900 clients on Sanibel and Captiva.
If you would like to become a volunteer or offer assistance, contact F.I.S.H. at 472-4775.
The Sanibel Captiva Lions Club has been dedicated to helping the less fortunate since its inception on Dec. 26, 1967. The proceeds from its various fundraising events help support a number of charities. Academic scholarships for handicapped students and programs for the visually impaired are just two of the causes that the Club supports.
The Sanibel Captiva Lions also provide free vision, hearing and diabetes screening for the community several times a year. To make donations and a full list of causes and organizations supported by the Sanibel Captiva Lions Club, please visit: sanibelcaptivalions.org/fund_raising/contribute.html
