FISH Christmas Holiday Baskets Program — Can you help?

2 min read

For several years F.I.S.H. (Friends in Service Here) of Sanibel has assisted clients in need with holiday baskets for families and gift cards to local restaurants for Christmas dinners for seniors and single clients.

Jenny and her three children received one of the holiday baskets last year from FISH. Jenny is a single parent with children aged 7, 6, and 4 who live on Sanibel and is employed on a full-time basis on the island. Jenny is working hard to make ends meet for her family since her husband left her and her children over a year ago. She has received food from the food pantry at FISH and had requested help with her electric bill when she was financially unable to pay the increases in her bill during the two coldest months we experienced last winter.

Jenny and her children were so grateful when they received a Holiday basket from FISH last December. She shared with volunteers at the FISH Walk In Center that she and her children truly appreciated having a turkey and a basket filled with food to enjoy together for the holiday.

FISH will be providing 39 Holiday baskets for island families in need again this year. Thanks to the generosity of the Prawnbroker Group (Timbers, Sanibel Grill and Matzaluna restaurants on Sanibel), FISH is also able to provide 17 gift cards for Christmas dinners for those who are elderly, disabled or single.

If you feel you can help FISH by sending a financial contribution or some non-perishable food we would be most grateful. Call the FISH Walk-In Center at 472-4775 or come to the Walk In Center located at 1630-B Periwinkle Way, Sanibel.

FISH in partnership with the Royal Shell Companies, has arranged that you can also drop off your FISH donations of money or non-perishable food at any of the 22 merchants in Tahitian Gardens, 1975 Periwinkle Way, or The Village Shops, 2340 Periwinkle Way, until Dec. 24.
