Hirdie-Girdie Art Gallery opens for season
The Hirdie-Girdie Gallery has opened its doors for the new season. It is one of the oldest fine arts and crafts galleries on the island, located at 2490 Library Way, on the corner of Tarpon Bay Road. It is open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday every week.
The Hirdie-Girdie shows award-winning two-dimensional and three-dimensional artists, featuring watercolors, oil paintings, acrylic paintings, photography, pastels, glass fusion, jewelry, sculpture, woodcarvings both hand carved and turned, and woven baskets. Artists are Jeannie Risher, Sheila King, David King, Neil Glaser, Stan Timson, Anne Kittel, Lee Ackert, Gordon Coughlin, Joan Tangren Reynolds, Peter Zell, Denny Souers, Mary Ann Devos, Tania Begg, Bob Huelsebusch, Don Daniels, Kathy Boynton, and Phil Krym. In addition, the gallery owner Calvin Linnemann shows original art from noted Haitian artists.
In addition, the gallery hosts several “artists of the month” receptions during season in which invited artists from Southwest Florida show their work. This year on Dec. 12, it will have a joint evening showing and reception with its neighbor, Tower Galley.
