Tickets still available for Celebrity Island Dinner
The Bailey-Matthews Shell Museum and Traders Restaurant will sponsor a Celebrity Island Dinner on Monday, Oct. 3 at Traders, located at 1551 Periwinkle Way on Sanibel. Seating will be offered from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $45 per person, and all proceeds will benefit The Bailey-Matthews Shell Museum.
The list of prominent local celebrity servers includes Craig Albert, Ric Base, Karen Bell, Mark Blust, Terry Igo, Friedrich Jaeger, Anne Joffe, Richard Johnson, Leoma Lovegrove, Tim Murty, Sandy Stilwell, Mike Valiquette and Bob Walsh.
Speaking of “tips,” we have it on good authority that Karen “Dinner” Bell’s birthday is Oct. 3, and nothing would make her happier than to receive gratuities of gratitude for sharing her special night at your service!
As for the fantastic food the servers will deliver to their patrons, Joe Archambault has designed a delicious menu to be prepared by Mike Patnode, including soup (white gazpacho or crab bisque) or Caesar salad), choice of entrees (shrimp scampi, parmesan-encrusted chicken, grilled salmon or 10 oz. New York strip steak) and Key Lime pie for dessert.
This annual event guarantees to put the “fun” into fundraiser. Not only will you walk away with a happy tummy, you can also knock out some early Christmas shopping by winning a stunning raffle prize from Lily & Co. Jewelry Gallery, or perhaps securing something special from an impressive list of Chinese auction items.
Local favorite Danny Morgan, along with fellow singer/musician John McLane and percussionist Pittsburgh Mike, will perform island tunes, and Bruce Akioka will also provide tropical entertainment for the event.
Having just returned from a relaxing and inspirational vacation in Paris, Morgan said it is “good to be back home and I’m ready to go to work.” His playlist for the Shell Museum event will include old favorites as well as selections from his instrumental CD, “Sanibel Samba,” and his current release, “It’s Always Summer,” which, appropriately enough, features a song he wrote entitled “Wish Upon A Seashell.”
“It’s a great cause, it’s a great organization, it’s a very unique treasure for Sanibel,” he said of the Shell Museum. “I’m glad to be a part of playing for our local islanders. It’s always fun.”
