The Sanibel & Captiva Chamber of Commerce unveiled a new look for its 2012 Visitor’s Guide at last week’s Member’s Business Lunch at Sundial Beach & Golf Resort.

The new look features a cover painting by Myra Roberts, one of the island’s best known and most distinctive artists. Roberts, an island resident, uses a vintage style to depict island life in its many and varied forms. Her depiction of the contrast between the warm gulf climate and the northern alternative is a gentle encouragement to all readers to consider returning soon to Sanibel and Captiva.

The Visitor’s Guide cover is chosen annually to represent the Islands for the next calendar year. Chamber marketing director Bridget Stone-Budd chose the 2012 design after hearing so many visitors complain about the long, harsh winter up north.

The Visitor’s Guide is given to all guests at the Francis P. Bailey Visitor’s Center and distributed around Florida and other states at the many events attended by chamber staff to promote the Islands of Sanibel and Captiva.

With more than 600 active chamber members from both islands, including businesses from Lee and Collier counties, the Sanibel & Captiva Chamber plays a key role in facilitating communication and cooperation between business, residents and government to enhance the economic health of the islands.

In addition, the chamber’s website — www.sanibel-captiva.org — gets over 1 million unique visitors per year.
