Dillard’s to host Food Bank fundraiser on Saturday

2 min read

A day-long fund raising event, which will benefit the Harry Chapin Food Bank, has been rescheduled at Dillard’s Coconut Point for Saturday, July 23. What could be more enticing than combining food, fashion and firefighters? Dillard’s is combining these three factors from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., offering a free thank you gift for a donation of non-perishable food or money, which will be turned over to the food bank.

The all-day event will feature special music by “Princess” beginning at 1 p.m. At 2 p.m., the Estero Firefighters will be the models for a men’s fashion show.

Dillard’s realizes that the Harry Chapin Food Bank has an increased need for food during the summer months as children, who are out of school, do not have their regular access to meals. Both food items and monetary donations are crucial to the food bank’s ability to provide this food. For every dollar donated, the food bank can provide $6 worth of food and food products.

The Harry Chapin Food Bank solicits, collects and stores quality food for distribution to families in need through a network of more than 170 local non-profit agencies in Lee, Collier, Hendry, Charlotte and Glades counties, who provide food to more than 30,000 people monthly. Over 900,000 pounds of food are distributed monthly. In the past fiscal year, The Harry Chapin Food Bank distributed more than 11.5 million pounds of food and other grocery products.
