Couple seeking help to find missing jewelry

2 min read

A Naples woman who stayed with her husband at South Seas Island Resort a week ago, checked out and then a day or so later realized she’d left a watch and engagement ring — valued at more than $21,000 — in the room.

Ivan William told a Lee County Sheriff’s Office alternative response officer that the couple stayed at the resort until Sunday, July 10 and returned home.

On July 11 or 12, his wife — whose name was not in the report — realized the jewelry was missing “and she remembered that she had left them in their room at the resort,” according to the report.

He called the resort, but the jewelry was not there. “No one else had checked into the room since they left,” William told the officer.

The platinum ring has small heart-shaped diamonds on each side of the solitaire. There also are two small diamonds on the bottom and the finger hole is square. It has two karets total in it and is valued at $15,000.

The watch is a Chopard Happy Sport diamond watch, silver with a white face.

“There are floating diamonds inside the bezel,” William told the officer. The watch is valued at $5,680.

“Mr. Ivan stated that he wanted to make an investigative report because he was told that detectives would be able to access the records of the local pawns shops,” according to the report.

There are no suspects at this time and it’s not clear why he waited until July 19 to report the theft.
