San-Cap Lions Club conducts fundraiser for U.S. victims of natural disasters
The Sanibel Captiva Lions Club has been collecting donations on the behalf of Salvation Army for the victims of the recent flood and tornado disasters in the United States. One hundred percent of the donations will be dedicated to disaster relief.
Over the next two weeks, the Lions will continue collecting donations, but may have to extend that period based on the string of additional disasters that occurred last week. All businesses that would like to participate can contact Tom Hoover via e-mail at mudducktom@comcast.net. The Lions will provide a collection jar and flyer, and will come by once a week to collect the funds and keep a record of the participating business and the amounts collected.
“Our community has been so vital to the success of many of our local Lions’ campaigns,” said Tom Hoover, the Sanibel-Captiva Lions Club’s president. “We are extremely grateful to those who have already joined the cause and look forward to seeing more people give us a hand. Thank you very much for your support.”
The Lions Club will have a check presentation to the Salvation Army at the end of the campaign.
The Sanibel-Captiva Lions Club has been dedicated to helping the less fortunate since its inception on Dec. 26, 1967. The proceeds from its various fundraising events help support a number of charities. Academic scholarships for handicapped students and programs for the visually impaired are just two of the causes that the Club supports.
