Love That Dress! 3 party will benefit PACE Center for Girls
Organizers announced on Monday plans to conduct the Love That Dress! 3 collection party on Aug. 11 at Tahitian Gardens, located at 1975 Periwinkle Way.
In 2010, attendees of the Sanibel event collected more dresses than any other collection party in the county. And this year, the competition is anticipated to be fierce.
If you missed last year’s extremely successful party, here’s how it works: Gather your gently used dresses (or a brand new one) and bring them to the party. A dress (or more) is your admission ticket. Come and have some fun and win some goodies.
The donated dresses are then professionally cleaned, sorted and sold at the official “Love That Dress” event the end of August, to be held at Embassy Suites in Estero. Ladies from across Lee County who attend the official Love That Dress! 3 event may purchase the dresses for $10 to $20 each. The monies collected support the Lee County PACE Center for Girls.
Last year’s event raised more than $70,000 for the PACE organization that supports young women who live in at risk situations. PACE assists them with their education and provides mentors who assist them in becoming productive and successful citizens in the community.
“Last year, Mark Blust from The Timber’s partnered with us and provided hors d’ oeuvres and wine for the party,” said Barb Harrington, one of the organizers of this year’s gala. “He has graciously agreed to join us again this year. The shops at Tahitian Gardens are excited to host the event once again.”
Harrington suggested that islanders stay tuned and start setting the gently used frocks no longer worn off to the side — someone else will “Love That Dress.”
Tickets for the Love That Dress! 3 event at Tahitian Gardens, priced at $25 each, will go on sale on Monday, Aug. 1. For additional details, visit www.lovethatdress.org. Followers may also view updated information at www.facebook.com/lovethatdress.
