Sheriff Scott to speak at San-Cap Republican meeting

Lee County Sheriff Mike Scott is scheduled to speak at the next Sanibel-Captiva Republican Caucus meeting this Saturday, April 23 beginning at 10 a.m. The meeting will be held in Room #4 of the Sanibel Public Library, located at 770 Dunlop Road, and is open to the public.

Sheriff Scott is a third generation Lee County resident and attended North Fort Myers High School. He received a Bachelors degree in Political Science from the University of South Florida and a Master Degree in Business Administration from IMPAC University.

Sheriff Scott started his law enforcement career as a Probation Officer and joined the Lee County Sheriff’s Department in l988. He was elected Sheriff in 2004. In 2005 he was honored by the Florida Crime Prevention Association with their President’s Award, the highest honor given to any chief or sheriff in Florida for progressive action in the area of crime prevention. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement appointed Sheriff Scott to co-chair the nine-county Southwest Regional Domestic Security Task Force in 2006.

Sheriff Scott was re-elected in November 2008, and recently his numerous achievements in law enforcement were acknowledged federally with an invitation to attend the prestigious FBI National Academy, where he was chosen to be the Graduation Speaker for his class.

Mike Scott and his wife, Krista, reside in Lee County and have two daughters, Lindsay and Mackenzie.
