Deadline approaching for fellowship award applications

2 min read

The Zonta Club of Sanibel-Captiva is joining many other Zonta clubs in sponsoring a fellowship award called Young Women in Public Affairs, a Zonta International project designed to encourage young women at the high school level to participate in leadership roles in public affairs, and to recognize young women’s commitment to the volunteer sector and dedication to the advancement of the status of women.

Young women ages 16 to 19 who live or study on Sanibel or Captiva and who are preparing for university or college at the time of application are eligible.

“In making this award, Zonta would like to single out an outstanding young woman from this area, who will be able to use the award and the recognition that it confers to further her ambitions,” said Zontian Barbara Stevelman.

The club will provide a cash award of $250 for the selected candidate, who will then be eligible to compete at the District level where the winner receives a cash award of $1,000. At the highest level, five international recipients will earn a prize of $3,000 each.

The deadline for applications is Wednesday, March 23. The application package may be downloaded and printed from the Zonta International website, at www.zonta.org. Barbara Stevelman is happy to answer questions at 239-579-0757 or via e-mail at stevelm@attglobal.net.

Completed applications may be e-mailed to info@zontasancap.com or postal mailed to Zonta at P.O. Box 1244, Sanibel, FL 33957.
