Christmas and New Year’s holiday hours for all city operations, refuse collection
The City of Sanibel’s Administrative Offices will be closed in observance of Christmas on Friday, Dec. 24 and will resume regular operating hours on Monday, Dec. 27. Those offices will also be closed in observance of New Year’s on Friday, Dec. 31 and will resume regular operating hours on Monday, Jan. 3.
All garbage, recycling and vegetation waste collection by Veolia Environmental Services scheduled for Friday, Dec. 24 and Friday, Dec. 31 will run as scheduled.
The Recreation Center will be open on Friday, Dec. 24 from 6:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and closed on Christmas Day, Saturday, Dec. 25. It will resume normal hours of operation on Sunday, Dec. 26. On New Year’s Eve, Friday, Dec. 31, the Rec Center will close at 1 p.m. It will be open on Saturday, Jan. 1 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The city’s New Year’s Eve Celebration at the Rec Center will begin at 8 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 31. Tickets for the New Year’s Eve Celebration are now on sale at the Rec Center. For more information, please call 472-0345.
The Winter Holiday Youth Recreation Program will operate Monday, Dec. 20 to Friday, Dec. 24, and Monday, Dec. 27 to Dec. 31 from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. This is a fee-based program that is conducted by the City of Sanibel at the Rec Center for school-age children. Registration for the Winter Holiday Youth Recreation Program is now open at the Rec Center’s front desk, at 3880 Sanibel-Captiva Road.
On Friday, Dec. 31, the Winter Holiday Youth program will meet in the morning at the Rec Center but go off-site starting at 11:30 a.m. with pick up at the Sanibel Community Park (next to the Sanibel Community Association) at 5:30 p.m. If you have any questions, call 472-0345.
The City Of Sanibel Senior/Civic Center will be closed Friday, Dec. 24 in observance of Christmas and resume regular operating hours on Monday, Dec. 27. The Senior/Civic Center will also be closed on Friday, Dec. 31 in observance of New Year’s Day, resuming regular operating hours on Monday, Jan. 3.
