Democratic Club of the Islands to meet Thursday
On Thursday, Nov. 18 at 7 p.m., the Democratic Club of the Islands will be holding its November meeting at the Sanibel Public Library, located at 770 Dunlop Road.
The feature speaker will be David Plazas, who writes, blogs, twitters and e-mails from his position as The Fort Myers News-Press’s Community Conversation Editor. In that position, he chairs The News-Press’ Editorial Board, manages its Opinion pages, coordinates its community outreach and social networking, and his is a familiar by-line for readers of The News-Press.
David’s education credentials include both a B.A. in political science and Spanish from Northwestern University, and — ever the seeker of more experience and knowledge — he is pursuing his M.B.A. at Florida Gulf Coast University. David will share with us his acute observations on the political comings and goings – and ups and downs — in and about Lee County.
This is a great chance for everyone interested the local and statewide political scene to hear from one of Lee County’s most knowledgeable, insightful and influential political reporters.
Additionally, a review of the Nov. 2 election results and where we go from here will be the featured topics of discussion.
All DCI Club members are invited, as are any other Islanders who are interested in getting active in Democratic politics. We welcome persons of all races, color, religion, sex, age, disability, sexual orientation, marital status and national origin.
