Third anniversary of ‘Celebrate Sanibel’ coming in November

2 min read

The Sanibel Historical Museum & Village and the Committee of the Islands are hosting “Celebrate Sanibel” for the third year.

During the week of Nov. 7-12, activities will include special programs at the J.N. “Ding” Darling National Wildlife Refuge on Monday, programs at the Sanibel-Captiva Conservation Foundation on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings, a special program at the Bailey-Matthews Shell Museum on Wednesday afternoon, one at the Historical Museum on Thursday morning, and a program presented by Community Housing Resources at the Sanibel Public Library (date to be determined). A special Beach Lunch under a tent at Casa Ybel Resort will take place at noon on Friday, Nov.12.

The keynote event is the Annual Island Club/Organization presentation to the public on Sunday, Nov. 7, from noon to 3 p.m. with special guest speaker Charles LeBuff discussing “Life on Sanybel” from 1 to 2 p.m. Free sandwiches and iced tea will be available after the talk. This takes place at the historic Sanibel Community Center, located at 2173 Periwinkle Way. So far, 16 clubs and organizations have signed on… more to follow.

This annual “happening” salutes the City of Sanibel’s incorporation in 1974 and its continuing commitment to nurturing the non-profit groups and organizations serving Sanibel residents and visitors. The Sanibel and Captiva Chamber of Commerce is also a sponsor and requests that all businesses and resorts let their customers know about this week through in-house postings, advertisements and publicity.
