Island Gala helping man’s best friend in Lee County

Make plans now to attend the first Onyx & Breezy Island Gala on Sunday, March 14, hosted by the Onyx & Breezy Foundation. Plans are under way to make this a one-of-a-kind evening, not to be missed. All of the proceeds will go to the welfare of domestic animals in Lee County.
The Onyx & Breezy Foundation was named in honor and in memory of two beloved black Labradors owned by part-time Sanibel residents, Mark and Wanda Shefts. A non-profit foundation, they have raised money for the welfare of animals nationwide and want to focus this event to raise important support for Lee County’s animals and the organizations that work for their benefit.
World-renowned comedienne Elayne Boosler will be joining guests, entertaining them with her comedy and helping with the auction. Elayne is also an animal lover and when she heard this event was being held on Sanibel, she offered to come from California and be a part of this special event.
Island residents and owners of the Over Easy Caf and Island Paws, Trasi Sharp and Liza Clouse, are excited and encourage island residents to join with them in attending this evening of fun.
“We are thrilled that Mark and Wanda are putting their efforts toward raising money for our local animal organizations right here in Lee County,” they said. “We know this event will be great.”
Held at Ellington’s Jazz Club & Restaurant on Sunday, March 14, the ticket price will include hors d’oeuvres, a full open bar, four-course gourmet dinner, silent and live auction, dancing to Ellington’s Jazz Band and a special performance by comedienne Elayne Boosler.
Attendance is by reservation only. There are only 160 tickets available, and they are expected to sell out quickly. Tickets are $150 per person, with all proceeds going to the animals for medical equipment and research, spay and neutering, disaster relief, puppy mill rescue and many other efforts in Lee County to help the animals.
