The Sanibel Fire Rescue District would like to announce the upcoming CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) class starting on Saturday, Sept. 12.

CERT is a government program designed to prepare the general public in disaster planning and preparedness.

CERT members are trained in many aspects of disasters such as disaster planning, identify and reduce fire hazards, work as team members, conduct medical triage, perform basic aid, search-and- rescue techniques, and many other tools that may be needed in a disaster situation.

The Sanibel CERT team is designed to assist our first responders in time of need. The team will be able to the “greatest good for the greatest number” after a disaster, while protecting themselves fom becoming victims.
