Red light cameras installed at major Lee County intersection

1 min read

On Monday, the Lee County Department of Transportation announced that they have installed a series of cameras at the intersection of Colonial Boulevard and Summerlin Road. The purpose of the cameras is to document individual vehicles that run the red traffic signal.

The cameras capture several pictures of the vehicle and the vehicle license plate on any vehicle that enters the intersection after the traffic signal has changed to red. The system is automated and will work through the LeeWay Service Center. The County DOT will have the ability to issue warning letters and/or uniform traffic citations to anyone that violates the traffic signal control.

If you have questions about the project, contact Paul Wingard of the Lee County Department of Transportation via e-mail at wingarpw@leegov.com or by phone at 239-533-8545 or call the LeeWay Service Center at 239-931-0100.
