Dairy Queen, Pfeifer Realty join list of sponsors for city’s 2009 New Year’s Eve Party
Last week, Dairy Queen Sanibel became the first island ice cream shop and Pfeifer Realty Group became the first island real estate firm to join the list of sponsors supporting the city’s 2009 New Year’s Eve Party, to be held at the Sanibel Recreation Center.
All proceeds from the Dec. 31 to Jan. 1 event will support scholarships – awarded upon financial need – for children who enroll in the after-school and summer childcare programs at the Rec Center.
Dairy Queen Sanibel, located at 1048 Periwinkle Way, has been owned and operated by the Meyers family for nearly four decades. The business sets the bar very high with its participation and continued support of numerous charities via financial and in kind contributions.
Kevin Meyers has a special affinity for the Sanibel Recreation Center, where he is a significant participant in assisting the children with great treats on many occasions. Additionally, his long-time manager Isabelle Gavin – a member of the island pioneer Gavin family – has been kind and helpful in promoting Sanibel.
Eric Pfeifer, broker-owner of Pfeifer Realty Group, located at 1630 Periwinkle Way, is a consistent and reliable supporter of many local organizations. Most recently, he took over for Dick Muench as the commissioner of Sanibel Little League.
Pfeifer Realty Group opened its doors in 2008 after Eric had six successful years at VIP Realty, including being named the Top Sales Associate for all of Southwest Florida in 2005. Eric now has 11 sales associates and sells real estate throughout Southwest Florida. Pfeifer attributes his company’s success to his hard working agents, a great international internet presence and an optimistic outlook on life.
Eric, his wife Mary Ellen and children Darby and John have lived on Sanibel since 2001.
The Dairy Queen Sanibel and Pfeifer Realty Group join Biddles Bucket and Biddles Restaurant & Piano Bar, along with primary event sponsor Sanibel-Captiva Kiwanis Foundation, in supporting the Rec Center’s 2009 New Year’s Eve Party.
According to Events Chairman Barry Alan Roth, the shindig will begin at 8 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 31 and run through Friday, Jan. 1 at 12:30 a.m. An all-you-can-eat buffet will include hot dogs, pizza, veggie trays, popcorn, desserts and more. Beverages will include soft drinks, root beer floats, milkshakes, coffee and tea.
“I don’t want to give away anything right now,” said Roth. “But I will say we have some very special tricks up our sleeve for the party. We hope that this will be the first in a great, new island tradition for New Year’s Eve on Sanibel.”
Sponsor recognition signs priced at $135 (larger signs are available at $195) will be displayed at the Rec Center from Nov. 21 through Jan. 15, 2010.
