Lily’s Jewelers to hold Easter egg hunt for community

2 min read

Dan Schuyler and Karen Bell, co-owners of Lily and Co. Jewelers, have hatched a plan for a community egg hunt that involves sweets and bling.

Schuyler, said his “creative juices” bubbled while he was sleeping one night and out hopped an idea to bring diamonds and the Easter Rabbit to Sanibel.

Children are invited to find “lots of carats” during Lily’s Egg-stravaganza, an Easter egg hunt at Lily & Co. Jewelers from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, April 11.

Parking will be by Baileys shopping center.

There will be 1,000 candy-filled eggs hidden around the Lily & Co. property, with 30 of the eggs also holding a certificate representing a loose GIA certified diamond. The diamonds range in size from .25 to 1.25 carats and are valued at a total of $20,000.

Children ages one to seven will be able to hunt for the eggs from 2 to 2:30 p.m. An Easter costume contest with prizes for the best costume will happen at 2:30 p.m. and open hunting season on the remaining eggs will occur from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Schuyler and Bell are trying to generate support for local non-profits as well as show people a good time.

“This is a community thing,” Schuyler said. “We want the community to come out and have fun.”

Folks attending the event are asked to bring their own baskets.

Additional activities include refreshments provided by Bailey’s General Store, a booth accepting donations on behalf of Sanibel Parks & Recreation, and piece by famed designer Marya Dabrowski will be raffled off to benefit Sanibel Community Housing & Resources.

“The Easter bunny will be hopping and delivering treats,” said Schuyler. “Not just our usual canine’s, but a hippity, hoppity kind of guy with long ears and a cotton tail.”

Lily & Co. Jewelers is located at 520 Tarpon Bay Road, next to Bailey’s. Lily the Labradoodle and her two canine friends, yellow Labradors Gracie and Angel, regularly greet guests to the store. For more information, call Lily & Co. co-owners Karen Bell or Dan Schuyler at 472-2888.
