1 min read

The Captiva Civic Association and Captiva Island Fire Control District will be hosting a CPR and AED certification class on Friday, Feb. 6 from 8:30 a.m. until noon.

This session will be held in the CCA meeting room, located at 11560 Chapin Lane.

The class fee is $20 per person and includes a CPR card and instructional materials about how to operate an Automated External Defibrillator (AED).

According to the American Red Cross, more than 300,000 Americans die of sudden cardiac arrest every year. Up to 50,000 of these deaths could have been prevented if someone had immediately used an AED at the time of the emergency.

The Captiva Island Fire Control District, located at 14981 Captiva Drive, recommends that you call the department – at 472-9494 – ahead of time to register for the class and also to pick up your AED materials in advance.

The course is open to the public but registration is required.
