SanCap Community Bank promotes Martens

Sanibel Captiva Community Bank has promoted Angela Martens to controller and vice president.

In her position, she maintains the general ledger and prepares reports and financial statements, as well as oversees the human resources department.

Martens joined the bank in 2014 and has more than 25 years of accounting and banking experience, including previous positions as vice president/controller and business manager.

She is a member of the Society for Human Resource Management and holds a Bank Financial Management certification from the American Bankers Association.

A Fort Myers resident, Martens volunteers with United Way of Lee, Hendry, Glades and Okeechobee, Boys & Girls Club, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Boy Scouts of America, Girl Scouts of America and The Salvation Army.

Drobnyk joins Burns Family Team

The Burns Family Team with Premier Sotheby’s International Realty recently announces the addition of another experienced Realtor to their team.

Tim Drobnyk has lived in Florida since the 1970s. He attended ELON University and graduated with an MBA in business administration. He has lived in Southwest Florida since 1995 and has been a Sanibel resident since 2001.

Drobnyk has been broker/owner of a real estate company, regional sales manager for a national builder and had been involved with commercial acquisitions.

“We are very excited to have Tim as a part of our family team,” Jeff Burns said. “He has decades of real estate experience and is also raising a family here on the island. We’ve enjoyed working together for years and decided that joining forces would be a great move to better serve our island friends and neighbors.”

The SanCap Trust Company promotes Breusch

Ian Breusch, chief investment officer of The Sanibel Captiva Trust Company and its divisions, has been promoted to executive vice president.

As CIO, Breusch is responsible for the overall management of the firm’s daily investment process and directs a robust and seasoned portfolio management team. He is an accomplished investment analyst, as well as portfolio manager with particular strengths in the real estate and energy sectors.

Breusch participates as a host on the company’s Quarterly Investment Call and leads the Asset Management Committee.

His earlier career included a position at Private Capital Management in Naples, where he served as a relationship manager and conducted investment research. He was also an asset strategist at Nationwide Financial, where he evaluated, constructed and monitored asset allocation programs, third-party funds and multi-managed products across the Nationwide Funds Group complex.

Breusch obtained his Bachelor of Science in finance from Florida Gulf Coast University, holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation and is a member of the CFA Institute and the CFA Society of Naples.

Trokey leaving the refuge

Susan Trokey tendered her resignation to the J.N. “Ding” Darling National Wildlife Refuge.

Trokey started working for the refuge in 1998 as a volunteer and serves now as regional land acquisitions officer for the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service.

She has been instrumental in negotiating past refuge land acquisitions.

In lieu of gifts, Trokey has asked that friends make donations in her name toward future refuge land acquisitions.

To do so, visit dingdarlingsociety.org/donation and select Honorarium. Name Trokey as the honoree and in the note or gift comment fields indicate that the donation goes toward land acquisitions.

Candidates to speak

The Democratic Club of the Islands will host a forum on May l7 featuring some of the candidates running for the Lee County School Board in November.

It will take place at 7 p.m. at The Community House on Sanibel.

The meeting is free and open to the public.

The forum will feature Charles Dailey, Karen Putnam-Watson, Betsy Vaughn and Mary Fisher, who is seeking re-election to the District 1 seat.

Refuge intern goes full-time

Senior intern Sierra Hoisington recently joined the “Ding” Darling Wildlife Society-Friends of the Refuge staff in a full-time capacity.

Sierra, a graduate of Clemson University with a bachelor’s degree in wildlife and fisheries biology, began in the position of intern in fall 2016.

Business Building Symposium set

The Greater Fort Myers Chamber of Commerce has announced its Business Building Symposium V, set for Sept. 19 from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Sanibel Harbour Marriott Resort & Spa in Fort Myers.

This year’s theme is “Unleash the Spirit of your Organization.”

The program includes a series of informative, interactive workshops led by local business leaders, including sessions covering social media and talent management, and a keynote address by Next Level Church Founder Matt Keller.

Participants can choose three hour-long workshops. Subjects include employee retention, social media, driving sales, disaster management, human resources, talent management, work/life balance and more.

VIP Vacation Rentals recently announced the acquisition of Lighthouse Realty of the Islands Vacation Rentals.

All properties managed by Lighthouse Realty Rentals have transitioned into VIP’s inventory.

Paul and Vickie Morris’ daughter, Katie Morris, who helped run the day-to-day operations, is now employed by VIP Vacation Rentals.

Collective beach camera website launches

Sanibel Captiva Beach Resorts has launched a combined live beach camera website at SanibelCaptivaBeachCams.com.

It serves as a location to view all four of the Sanibel Captiva Beach Resort on-property cameras – ‘Tween Waters Island Resort & Spa, Beachview Cottages, Castaways Cottages and West Wind Inn.

Each of the videos are located on the properties’ websites, as well as the new collective site.

The videos are high-definition streaming video, without delay in feed.
