Captiva House incorporates sushi to their menu
Captiva House which is the flagship restaurant of ‘Tween Waters Inn Island Resort & Spa, recently added sushi to their offerings.
The restaurant featured it briefly in the past and since it was such a huge hit with customers, Laurent Bosc, director of food and beverage for Sanibel Captiva Beach Resorts, decided to bring it back. They are the only restaurant on Captiva that offers sushi.
“This is something I wanted to offer to my guests since I started working at ‘Tween Waters, now it is a reality,” Bosc said.
The menu boasts 30 different choices of sushi and sashimi with prices ranging from $2.50 to $15.50. Bosc, who is French, taste tests everything on the menu once a week.
Four different local vendors supply the fish so that there is always a variety.
“We want to get it fresh,” he said.
Bosc’s personal favorite is the sunburn roll which consists of salmon, kani, cream cheese and asparagus. The roll is then deep fried and topped with eel sauce, spicy mayonnaise, panko, spring onion, masago and hot sauce.
“It’s crazy good,” Bosc said.
He recommends pairing the roll with their velvety Moonstone Coconut Lemongrass sake which goes for $14 for two glasses.
Sushi at the Captiva House is only available Thursday through Saturday from 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. in September and Tuesday through Saturday from 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. beginning in November.
