4G network now available for AT&T Sanibel customers
Sanibel residents and visitors now have access to 4G network on their AT&T smartphones and tablets providing a faster internet experience.
“Sanibel residents and businesses can now enjoy faster mobile speeds,” said AT&T President Joe York in a prepared statement. “We know our customers are living their lives on the go. We want to help them get the most out of their mobile devices, whether they’re watching videos, texting family and friends, or posting to social media.”
AT&T Media Relations Manager Karen McAllister said the new 4G LTE network cell site was activated June 30 on Sanibel.
“We are really happy that all is set up with the 4G network and residents are getting faster service,” she said. “AT&T has provided wireless coverage on Sanibel Island since 2006 and we are excited to expand service for more customers.”
A number of factors played a role in deciding where the service was going to be made available, according to McAllister, which included local demand, growth projections and existing network facilities.
“We’re continually investing in our network to provide the best possible service in Florida,” she said.
Nearly $2.7 billion has been invested in Florida wireless and wired networks from 2013 to 2015.
