Island merchant announces winner in inaugural photo contest
The winner of R.S. Walsh Landscaping’s December photo contest is France Paulsen. The theme of the December contest was “butterflies and birds.”
Submitted photos were posted on R.S. Walsh’s In The Garden Facebook page and at the company’s Sanibel garden center. Visitors to the Facebook page and the garden center were able to vote on their favorites.
Paulsen’s photo of a Pileated Woodpecker family received the most votes. Paulsen will receive a $50 gift certificate to In The Garden. Honorable mentions go to Linda Kopycki, Judie Zimomra, Patty MacInnis and Carol Pauli.
Future submissions should include the photographer’s name, phone number, location of the photo and a short story behind the photo. Up to five photos per person are allowed. Submissions can be sent via e-mail to inthegarden@rswalsh.com. Finalists will be posted on R.S. Walsh’s Facebook page, website and displayed at R.S. Walsh In The Garden. Voters can visit In The Garden or the In The Garden page on Facebook to vote. Each month the winning photo will appear in The Island Reporter newspaper and the photographer will receive a $50 gift certificate to In The Garden Sanibel’s Retail Garden Center and Outdoor Showroom.
“We had some wonderful submissions to our December contest,” said Robert Walsh, president of R.S. Walsh Landscaping. “These are some very talented photographers that captured the beauty of Sanibel and Captiva. We are looking forward to seeing next month’s photos.”
The themes and deadlines for each month are:
February: Sunsets – Deadline February 10
March: Flowers and Fruit – Deadline March 10
April: Wildlife – Deadline April 10.
