Hipschman appointed to Visit Florida committee
Bailey-Matthews National Shell Museum Executive Director Dorrie Hipschman has been appointed to Visit Florida’s Cultural, Heritage, Rural and Nature committee. Visit Florida is the state’s official tourism marketing corporation. Each specialized committee works closely with specific Visit Florida departments to provide recommendations and industry knowledge to the organization. The goals of the committees include: staying ahead of industry trends, acting as a sounding board for Visit Florida, helping disseminate information to the tourism industry and providing counsel for the organization.
Hipschman is a senior director with 20 years of experience directing non-profit organizations. She has been successful in major gift fund raising, grant writing, and strategic planning, as well as leading capital campaigns and museum expansions. Prior to joining the Bailey-Matthews National Shell Museum in Aug. 2013, she directed the start-up project to build the Cade Museum for Creativity and Invention and led for ten years The Building for Kids, a children’s museum in Appleton, Wisconsin. She has also worked as an executive director and development director for a variety of museums across the United States. Hipschman holds an undergraduate degree in American Studies from Georgetown University and has additional MBA coursework at the University of Hawaii. She has three grown children and lives in Fort Myers.
