Rachel Tritaik to speak at ABWA

2 min read

The Sanibel Chapter of the American Business Women’s Association (ABWA) is delighted that Rachel Tritaik, a physical therapist, certified lymphedema therapist and vestibular rehabilitation therapist, who owns the Island Therapy Center, will be presenting an intriguing discussion entitled “Reduce your Risk of Osteoporosis-Practical Tips to Stay Tall and Reduce Fractures” on Tuesday March 11 at 6 p.m.

Rachel will educate attendees about how to reduce the risk of fracture and reduce the risk of developing “dowager’s hump” or rounded upper back. This applies to both men and women. There is a common misconception that by only taking calcium and vitamin D supplements, osteoporosis can be avoided, but recent studies have shown that this approach is limited. Rachel will discuss and demonstrate practical ways to assist slowing bone-density loss and even increasing bone density, as 1-in-2 women over 50 will develop osteoporosis. She will also discuss pain reduction, physical therapy and the types of diagnoses and treatments, including non-traditional modalities, which the Island Therapy Center provides.

The presentation will be at the Sanibel Community House on 2173 Periwinkle Way. Guests are welcome. If you are interested in attending please contact Carol Shapiro, membership chair at 222-9713 or email her at baboult@embarqmail.com. The cost for the evening is $22, payable by check or cash. Please come and enjoy this rare opportunity to gain insights and knowledge from one of our well respected and valued business owners.
