New center to serve as island gateway for realtors and buyers

Several local businesses combined professional talents to renovate the first building on Sanibel when coming off the causeway. The property, located next to the Sanibel-Captiva Chamber of Commerce Visitor’s Center, was vacant for years and is now a new realty center named Sanibel-Captiva Gateway.
“Reviving the old property at the gateway to the islands and bringing together strong real estate and property management professionals from the islands supports the welcome message given to visitors,” said Butch ‘Maurice’ Long, one of the founding partners of the new center. “The message we hope to give is that these islands are a great place to visit but also a great place to invest or live.”
The vision for Sanibel-Captiva Gateway started when Butch and Cindy Long purchased the property at 1177 Causeway Blvd. last year, and a partnership team began planning and creating the new gateway center concept.
To complete their vision, the Longs combined efforts with Robert Coscia, a long-time real estate broker and resident of Sanibel, and Sherry Snyder who has been involved in many aspects of the accommodation industry in southwest Florida and Sanibel since 1985.
The new gateway center includes a range of real estate services provided by SanCap Gateway Realty (formerly SanCap One Source Realty) owned and managed by Coscia, and the newly-formed property management firm SanCap Management operated by Snyder.
“We’re excited to move into the new building and expand our company and our services to the community,” said Coscia. “In addition to supporting buyers and sellers, we provide private tours of island living, and we open our office to visitors and the community through our free business center, Wi-Fi and community conference room.”
The Longs are long-time visitors to Sanibel and have lived on the island since 2009.
A grand opening and ribbon-cutting event for the new center will be held next month on Wednesday, April 2.
