Bennett’s Fresh Roast is featured in a recent post by New York Magazine’s food and restaurant blog Grub Street.

In the blog post, “Sweet: 101 Amazing American Doughnut Shops With Serious Street Cred,” Bennett’s is listed as one of three noteworthy Florida doughnut shops.

According to the blog, Grub Street set out to survey the current doughnut situation in America and didn’t favor new over old. Instead, it looked for shops of all ages with “street cred,” spots that feel as immune to trends as doughnuts themselves. The unranked list is organized geographically and is a guide to the places and people that the blog thinks are doing their damnedest to pay proper respect to one of our country’s greatest culinary traditions.

“What an honor to be recognized in this way by New York Magazine’s blog,” said Bennett’s owner Bob Grissinger, former local morning disc jockey C. David Bennett. “I think being included shows how much we’ve succeeded in not being just another doughnut and coffee shop.”

Bennett’s Fresh Roast has prided itself on its fresh-from-scratch doughnuts made daily and being the only Fort Myers’ shop to serve fresh roasted coffee from the finest beans resulting in the most flavorful and freshest cup of coffee around.

Bennett’s has two locations in Southwest Florida located at 2011 Bayside Parkway in downtown Fort Myers and 1020 Periwinkle Way on Sanibel Island. Both are open Monday through Sunday from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m.
