Bank of the Islands/Edison National Bank, a Gold Sponsor for A Seahorse Dream, is pleased to announce its seahorse sculpture is complete and ready to receive visitors in the lobby of the bank’s Sanibel office.

A Seahorse Dream, a not-for-profit fund raising public art project created to help raise funds for construction of the New Golisano Children’s Hospital of Southwest Florida, presented five-foot tall “blank canvas” seahorse sculptures to their donors in early Fall 2013.

Bank of the Islands could think of no better partner in the project than the principal, art teachers, and students at the Sanibel School.

“The moment we were approached I knew the school had to be our partner in this project,” said Bank of the Islands/Edison National Bank President Robbie Roepstorff, a longstanding school supporter. “Since the school’s mascot is the seahorse, they can now create one for permanent installation at the campus entrance. Through this wonderful project we’re delighted to be helping the Children’s Hospital and the Sanibel School at the same time.”

With the full support of Principal Barbara Von Harten, art teachers Tylor Stewart and Andi McCarter worked with their students to create a sophisticated mosaic design for the seahorse sculpture.

“It is just spectacular,” said the Bank of the Islands V.P. and Sanibel Office Manager Rob Lisenbee. “We invite folks to come see what a great job the students did under their teachers’ direction. And don’t forget to have a freshly baked cookie while you admire their creativity.”

The seahorse sculpture will remain on display until it is moved to the Marriott Sanibel Harbour Resort for the Seahorse Dream Project gala dinner and auction on March 7. Following the gala, plans will be announced for the permanent installation of the seahorse sculpture at the Sanibel School.
