The Sanibel Chapter of the American Business Women’s Association will host Susan Scott, owner of Enchanted Ballroom, a dance studio on the island, on Dec. 10 at 5:30 p.m. at the Sanibel Community House.

Susan, with dynamic poise and charm, will share her passion for dance together with the rewards and challenges of opening a new business. Not only will she provide many insights for business attendees, but she will have them all ready to enjoy and participate in dancing.

Susan launched into the world of competitive dance after falling in love with ballroom dance during Dancing with the Island Stars on Sanibel in 2010. It changed her life and she chose to share that passion by opening the Enchanted Ballroom in March 2013.

She stresses that dancing is more than learning steps; it encompasses every aspect of personal growth and health. Susan graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Va., with a degree in fine arts. Her professional career centered on commercial interiors of hotels, restaurants, and hospitals along the Delaware and New York corridor.

She also maintains an art studio in Fort Myers where she focuses on abstract water colors and creative art quilting. She claims that the dance world has pushed her further out of her box to think and act in new creative ways.

During her presentation, she expects to have many people involved with learning a new dance step taught by herself and dance partner David Flory.

ABWA meetings are always held the second Tuesday of each month at the Sanibel Community House at 2173 Periwinkle Way. Guests are welcome. The cost for the evening, which includes dinner, is $22 and payable by check or cash.
