ABWA to meet Dec. 14 at Sanibel Community House
The Sanibel-Captiva Chapter of the American Business Women’s Association (ABWA) invites all members and guests to the monthly meeting on Tuesday, Dec. 14. The meeting will be held at the Sanibel Community House, located at 2173 Periwinkle Way. Networking begins at 5:30 p.m., and the dinner/meeting begins at 6 p.m.
The December meeting is the annual ABWA Holiday Party and Auction. Each member should bring a new or slightly used item wrapped that each member can bid on. The gift should be valued at $10 to $15. Some of the items may be “white elephant” items disguised and wrapped beautifully. It will be a surprise to each member when they open the gift. The secret is to find which package has the fruitcake inside, compliments of long-time member Judy Michie. Please come in your holiday wear and enjoy the festivities. We welcome members to bring a guest who can participate in the event.
The second part of the holiday evening is to bring an unwrapped gift for a boy or girl for “Friends Who Care” Night. These gifts will be collected and given to children in need during the holiday season. This gift is usually around $10.
To secure your reservation to be a part of this enjoyable evening, please RSVP to Gayle DeHaan-Garland (godehaan@comcast.net/) or call 239-565-7872 by Dec. 10. The cost of the dinner is $20 per person.
The ABWA, which meets on the second Tuesday of each month at the Sanibel Community House, focuses on bringing together women of professional and business interests to provide opportunities for them to help themselves and others grow professionally through leadership, education, networking support and national recognition. All money raised is used to further the education of women through seminars, conferences and scholarships.
The purpose of the networking time prior to the start of the meeting is to build networking skills and provide business enhancing opportunities for Sanibel and Captiva business women.
