Sanibel Steakhouse features wine tastings for summer
In an effort to give residents something fun and gastronomically interesting to do, Chip’s Sanibel Steakhouse is holding wine tasting and dinner events for the summer.
The restaurant is featuring monthly wine tastings paired with a multi-course dinner. A wine tasting without any particular theme was just held at the Sanibel Steakhouse last week.
The hip new general manager Chris Orr said the restaurant’s entire front room filled with guests. Thirty people came to the wine tasting that featured a mild Riesling called S.A. Prum Essence and a Parducci 2006 Petite Syrah called True Grit. All of the wines — of which there were four — were paired with dinners selected by Orr and the chef.
“It went really well,” Orr said.
Balance, fruit and the complexities of the wines are carefully noted and matched with dinners that will bring out their notes and flavors.
During the monthly wine tastings — which began last summer — vintner representatives are are on hand to help Orr serve the guests.
Along with the wines, Orr has added an award winning beer tasting test to this summer’s event schedule. Expect European, hand-crafted beers to be paired with different courses.
Orr said the event, which has never been advertised before, draws a crowd because of the fine wines, food and ambiance.
“I think because we do it in a more intimate setting, it get guests mingling,” Orr said.
The wine tastings and dinners are held at different times each month based on availability of chosen wine representatives. The wine tasting events cost $40 and usually start at 6:30 p.m.
