Congress Jewelers declares March 18-20 ‘Clean Out Your Jewelry Box’ weekend

2 min read

Congress Jewelers on Sanibel Island will conduct a jewelry restyling event this Thursday, Friday and Saturday, March 18 through 20, providing the opportunity for jewelry owners to recycle unworn pieces into new favorites.

“This is a great chance to turn jewelry you never wear into something you really love,” said proprietor Scot Congress. “Jewelry can become outdated, an inherited piece may not complement your style, and earrings sometimes lose their mates. With creativity and craftsmanship, we evaluate what you have, suggest ways to reuse stones and precious metals, and create pieces you’ll enjoy wearing.”

Congress Jewelers will have a wide assortment of loose stones, with jewelers ready to redesign and create pieces on the spot while customers watch. The store, located in Periwinkle Place, will be open from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. Thursday through Saturday.

Unworn jewelry presents endless possibilities. Changing a diamond’s setting from yellow gold to platinum can add sparkle and drama. Necklaces offer the possibility of dangling earrings. A long diamond-strand necklace could become a shorter necklace and matching bracelet, or two bracelets gifts for daughters or granddaughters. A diamond ring can be refashioned into a pendant, and a diamond tennis bracelet might be converted into hoop earrings. Brooches can become pendants and pendants brooches. Restyling jewelry can enhance sentimental value and expand wardrobe choices without the investment of all new materials.

Congress Jewelers specializes in an exclusive selection of elegant diamonds, colored gemstones, fine designer jewelry, Rolex timepieces and the Sealife by Congress collection, including the original Sanibel sandals. Its experienced staff also offers watch service and repairs, jewelry design, production and repairs, appraisals and estate buying.
