After successfully helping many patients in their Island homes with her company, In-Home Therapy of Sanibel, island resident Rachel Tritaik PT, CLT-LANA has recently opened an outpatient physical therapy clinic.

Conveniently located at 2242 Periwinkle Way, Unit 2 in the Sanibel Square Plaza, the Island Therapy Center is Sanibel’s only combination physical therapy clinic and pilates studio, additionally offering occupational therapy, hand therapy, dizziness therapy, lymphedema therapy, massage therapy and private treatment room.

“During my 15 years as a licensed physical therapist, I have always been passionate about providing the best quality of care for my patients,” said Tritaik. “By popular demand, I will still provide in-home therapy services for those unable to travel to the clinic, but the expanded scope of services I can provide on-site will greatly enhance the well-being of Sanibel and Captiva residents, employees and visitors.”

From joint pain to swollen limbs to balance problems, the new Island Therapy Center effectively treats a variety of ailments, and accepts Medicare, most major insurances and offers self-pay rates. The Island Therapy Center delivers not only traditional physical therapy services, but also some successfully innovative rehabilitation techniques.

Meta Goodwin, a well respected Sanibel fitness practitioner and certified Pilates instructor, is providing individual on-site Pilates training with use of Pilates equipment such as the “Reformer” and “Cadillac.”

Tritaik PT, CLT-LANA holds specialties and certifications in addition to her physical therapy degree. She is a skilled practitioner of Manual Lymph Drainage (MLD)/lymphedema therapy for the reduction of swelling following cancer treatment or chronic venous insufficiency, and also vestibular rehabilitation for the treatment of dizziness. Rachel has additionally received intensive training in Neuro-Developmental Technique (NDT) for neurological disorders.

An innovative use of the Nintendo Wii in the clinic provides a fun and interactive way for Rachel to challenge her patients with their balance and endurance. Catalina Howerton OTR, CHT, a licensed occupational therapist and certified hand therapist, has been added part-time to the Island Therapy Center staff. She provides therapies to improve home independence, home safety assessments and wheelchair assessments, and also treats acute and chronic hand and arm problems.

“Because we value quality over quantity, our services are by appointment only,” said Tritaik. “Our office manager, Alice Martin, can be reached at 395-5858, and physician referrals can be faxed directly to 395-5857.”

A grand opening and ribbon-cutting event is planned for Wednesday, March 10 from 5 to 7 p.m. Further information about the new clinic can be found online at www.islandtherapycenter.com.
