24th Annual Baileyfest returns this Sunday
The 24th Annual Baileyfest will be held this Sunday, Oct. 25 from 1 to 4 p.m. at Bailey’s Center, located on the corner of Periwinkle Way and Tarpon Bay Road.
The family-oriented event will include food and beverages, crowning of the Baileyfest King and Queen, mule and wagon rides, a bounce house, dunk tank, inflatable slide, miniature golf and traditional games, including an egg and spoon race, hula hoop contest, tin can alley and fastest pitch. All proceeds will benefit Sanibel and Captiva non-profit organizations.
The Baileyfest stage will run from 1 p.m. and feature acts from local performers such as The Herb Strauss Schoolhouse Theatre, BIG Arts Chorus, Jennifer Valiquette (saxophone player), The Sanibel School’s Steel Drum Band, The Sanibel School’s Performing Arts Class, Kellyn Celtic Arts Irish Dance Academy and more.
Anyone who participates in the Baileyfest 2009 Pumpkin Carving Contest will receive a free pumpkin. Simply purchase a pumpkin from Bailey’s General Store by Sunday, Oct. 25 and keep your receipt. Bring your carved pumpkin and your receipt to the Customer Service desk inside Bailey’s for a full refund any time on Saturday or Sunday morning. The winner will be announced at 3:30 p.m. at Baileyfest and will receive a freshly cooked turkey from Bailey’s General Store.
Entry forms for door prizes will be accepted through Saturday at each Bailey’s Center merchant. Raffle tickets will also be sold at Bailey’s General Store for a brand new grill, and at Lily & Co. for a jewelry set valued at $500.
The 14 merchants who are members of the BCMA are Bailey’s General Store, Bailey’s True Value Hardware, Biddles Bucket, The Grog Shop, Nick’s Frozen Yogurt, Hillgate Communications, Island Cleaners, Island Cinema, Lily & Co., Sanibel Barber Shop, Sanibel Beauty Salon, Sanibel Shell Automotive, Select Vacation Properties and The Video Scene.
