‘Tween Waters breaks ground for brand new spa, gym facility
On Tuesday, ‘Tween Waters Inn began construction on their most recent addition, a brand new facility and future home of The Spa at ‘Tween Waters Inn and a work-out room.
“We needed more space and a nicer facility,” said ‘Tween Waters Inn general manager Jeff Shuff. “When we opened the first one, we knew it would be temporary depending on how business was, but it’s been very successful so we said, let’s do it right.”
The new building, which will be situated at the south end of the resort next to the tennis courts, will feature a much more spacious floor-plan, something that Georgeanne Pailes – who currently operates The Spa at ‘Tween Waters Inn – is looking forward to.
“I’m so excited. I think this is something that Captiva and Sanibel needs. The spa will have a hot tub and a sauna and will be totally state-of-the-art,” Pailes said. “And, of course, we have such great employees.”
Pailes’ list of services include facials, manicures and pedicures, hair cutting and styling, coloring, therapeutic massages, aromatheraphy treatments and customizable bridal packages all within a soothing, tropical setting.
According to Shuff, the planning and designing phase of the new spa began in September of last year, and he says that things moved rather quickly from the initial design phase, to the permitting process and now to construction which began on Tuesday.
“We hope to be done by late October,” Shuff said.
There will be some disruption to guests and possibly, in terms of traffic, to drivers near the area, but Shuff said that it should only affect the south end of the property and only one rental building containing 12 units.
“I think it’s going to be a nice addition to the property. We’ve done all these renovations for the past three years,” Shuff added. “We’ve renovated all the rooms and suites and cottages – and it’s time to upgrade that facility, too.”
