Traffic drops again at Southwest Florida International Airport
During the month of February, 809,990 passengers traveled through Southwest Florida International Airport, a decrease of 4.2 percent compared to February 2008. Year-to-date, passenger traffic is down 4.0 percent over the same period last year.
The traffic leader in February was AirTran with 138,986 passengers traveling to and from Fort Myers. Rounding out the top five airlines were JetBlue (102,208), Delta (94,426), US Airways (83,232) and Southwest (74,211).
Southwest Florida International Airport had 8,671 aircraft movements (takeoffs and landings), a decrease of 3 percent over February 2008. Page Field General Aviation Airport saw 7,118 aircraft movements, a 4.4 percent increase from February 2008. In addition, nearly 3 million pounds of air freight moved through both airports in February 2009.
