Friends of Florida State Parks welcome Sanibel Harbour Resort & Spa
The Friends of Florida State Parks, Inc. (FFSP) recently announced that the Sanibel Harbour Resort & Spa has become the first corporate, gold level partner. The resort’s partnership with FFSP demonstrates their commitment to protecting and preserving the natural beauty and cultural and historic sites found in Florida’s state parks.
“A partnership with a business as prestigious as the Sanibel Harbour Resort is extremely important to our organization and the state parks, especially in such an uncertain economy,” said FFSP President Elaine McLaughlin. “Funding for our parks is at risk; we need the support of the business community and our visitors to insure the preservation and protection of the affordable, nature based recreational opportunities found in our more than 150 state parks. The management of Sanibel Harbour Resort & Spa has recognized that partnering with the Friends of Florida State Parks is a wonderful way to reinforce the resort’s new Green Lodging status and commitment to protecting Florida for future generations.”
Sanibel Harbour Resort & Spa is a luxurious business and vacation property located between Fort Myers and Sanibel Island on the Gulf of Mexico. The resort is a part of the rich tapestry of the historic Punta Rassa fishing village that dates back to the 1500s and Florida’s pioneer cattle ranching period. The resort retains old world charm yet embraces new environmental standards. This year, the resort was awarded the Florida Department of Environmental Protection’s Green Lodging designation, recognizing their compliance with high environmental standards.
The Friends of Florida State Parks provide financial support which supplements state funding for the park system and ensures inclusion of, and accessibility to, the full enjoyment of the parks’ natural and cultural resources for all persons.
