Congress Jewelers boosts Relay For Life

2 min read

Congress Jewelers is supporting Relay For Life by collecting donations at its Periwinkle Place store. Islanders and visitors are invited to stop in, make contributions and autograph paper footprints that are being posted on the walls.

The fundraising walk – Sanibel & Captiva Relay For Life Goes Broadway – is scheduled for Feb. 21 and 22 at the Sanibel Community House. Relay For Life is American Cancer Society’s signature overnight event that offers everyone in a community the opportunity to participate in the fight against cancer.

Teams camp out and take turns walking or running, keeping a representative on the track continuously from noon on Saturday until 8 a.m. on Sunday.

“Relay For Life is a wonderful way to join the fight against cancer,” said Mary Benzrihem, general manager of Congress Jewelers at Periwinkle Place. “We would love to cover our walls with footprints in a great show of financial and moral support of the American Cancer Society and its mission.”

More than 3.5 million people participate in Relay For Life events across the nation to celebrate the lives of those who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost to the disease and fight to put an end to cancer.
