CHR’s Ship Wrecked Yacht Rock Party set
An island event will celebrate Community Housing & Resources (CHR) and workforce housing.
CHR will present its Ship Wrecked Yacht Rock Party on April 12 from 3 to 6 p.m. aboard the Lady Chadwick at McCarthy’s Marina on Captiva. It will feature live music, food, drinks and more.
“It’s a community event. It’s a celebration of CHR and workforce housing,” Deputy Director Becky Boyd said. “We also want to use it as a way to say thank you to the community for its support.”
The event will take place on land and sea, with tents and chairs on site.
“The Lady Chadwick will be docked there for people to get the full yacht rock experience,” she said of Captiva Cruises’ flagship vessel. “And we will have a giant tent for people to hang out under with chairs, so there’s going to be a place for shade.”
The PonTunes will provide the live entertainment.
“They’re local,” Boyd said of the band, noting that attendees loved The PonTunes’ vibes when it performed at past CHR events.
“They play the coolest yacht rock, tropical and pop hits of the ’70s and ’80s,” she added. “They have more love than ‘Love Boat’ and more fun than ‘Fantasy Island.'”
Food and drinks, including beer, wine and other refreshments, will be available for sale.
Attendees are encouraged to dress with the theme.
“Wear your favorite yacht rock attire,” Boyd said.
The event supporters include Captiva Cruises and Modern Woodmen Fraternal Financial.
“Thank you for sponsoring the event,” she said.
Tickets are $50 per person.
The public is invited to secure one and come out.
“Easy rhythms, coastal nights and great company — come together with CHR and the community to enjoy a great evening,” Boyd said.
