SCUCC to present musical performance
Part of its Music@SCUCC concert series, the Sanibel Congregational United Church of Christ (SCUCC) will present the “Organ Celebration Concert” on Feb. 8 from 3 to 4:30 p.m. on Sanibel.
In celebration of the church’s new organ, it will feature organist Hector Olivera.
Born in Argentina, he began playing the pipe organ at the age of 3. A child prodigy, Olivera played for Eva Peron at the age of 5 and launched his formal education at the Buenos Aires Conservatory, followed by the University of Buenos Aires and Juilliard School of Music. He quickly became an international star, playing in major world concert halls — from Paris and Berlin, to Sydney and Hong Kong — and with major symphony orchestras. Olivera has also performed multiple times at the American Guild of Organists’ National Convention.
A reception with the artist will follow.
The performance is free and open to the public.
