Committee meeting to feature yard presentation
Florida Wildflower Foundation Director of Communications Sara Burke will present “How to Start a Backyard Revolution” at the Sanibel Vegetation Committee’s meeting on Nov. 6 at 1:30 p.m. in MacKenzie Hall at City Hall, at 800 Dunlop Road, Sanibel.
It will cover how to incorporate native groundcover vegetation into landscaping design.
“Our own health depends on the health of our immediate environment. What you plant and how you care for it matters,” she shared. “Learn how changing your backyard habits can help both people and biodiversity, and why it’s especially important here in Sanibel.”
Burke is a communications advisor to community leaders, with a master’s degree in digital media and over two decades of international experience. She is an expert in communicating complex information to the public in ways that result in measurable real-world change.
Burke first visited Florida in 2008 and fell in love with the state’s unique ecology. She now uses her skills in lifestyle and technical publishing to help the public learn about Florida’s biodiversity and what it can do to protect and conserve it.
