IWA issues precautionary boil water notice
On Jan. 23, the Island Water Association reported that distribution crews completed repairs to a water main near the intersection of Wulfert Road and Sanibel-Captiva Road. The repair was required due to damage caused by a fiber boring crew operating in the area.
As a result, the following areas are under a precautionary boil water advisory: Wulfert Road, Troon Court, Baltusrol Court, Starling Way, Henderson Road, Key Lime Place, Lands End Place, Dinkins Lake Road, Blue Crab Court, Los Colony Road, Shop Road, Caloosa Drive, Caloosa End Lane, Punta Caloosa Court and Indian Court.
All impacted areas will be under the precautionary boil water advisory until bacteriological testing shows that the drinking water is safe. The tests normally take 48-72 hours to complete.
During the advisory, all water used for drinking, cooking, making ice, brushing teeth or washing dishes must be boiled at a roiling boil for one minute. Or, as an alternative, bottled water may be used.
