Rec center provides update on activities, events

The Sanibel Recreation Center reported on upcoming programs and activities.
A free trial of Yin Yoga with Shelley will be held on Dec. 13 at 10:30 a.m. Yin is a slow-paced and gentle style of yoga that works with very basic postures to increase mobility, mobilize, stretch and hydrate the body’s extensive fascial network. Open to members and non-members.
A free trial of Ring Pilates with Ginger will be held on Dec. 14 at 8 a.m. Using the Magic Circle, the dynamic class blends traditional pilates movements with the added resistance and balance challenges of the pilates ring. Open to members and non-members.
A free trial of Toddler & Me Yoga with Dani will be held on Dec. 14 at 9:30 a.m. It is a heartwarming and interactive class designed for adults and their young children (typically ages 6 months to 3 years). It focuses on bonding through playful and gentle yoga poss, stretches and activities. Open to members and non-members.
Wreath Decorating will be held on Dec. 14 at 1 p.m. Participants will decorate a festive wreath. Complimentary coffee and cocoa will be provided. Cost is $23 for members and $28 for non-members; wreath and all supplies included. Registration is required.
The Sanibel Fire and Rescue District will offer complimentary blood pressure screenings on Dec. 16 from 9 and 11 a.m. in the lobby.
Holiday Bingo will take place on Dec. 18 at noon. There will be prizes, fun and more, including a special appearance from the Grinch. Cost is $4 for members and $5 for non-members and includes one Bingo card; additional cards will be available for $3 each, with a limit of five cards. Best holiday attire will win an extra playing card.
AQUATIC FACILITY INCLEMENT WEATHER POLICY
– The aquatic facility will open when the air temperature is forecasted to reach 60 degrees at any time during the day. If the air temperature is forecasted to be 59 degrees or less, the pool will remain closed.
– Air temperature must be at least 60 degrees for cardio-based programming, such as shallow or deep-water aerobics.
– Air temperature for swim lessons, SWAT, water pilates and aquaritis must be at least 65 degrees.
In addition, Sanibel Beach Parking Permits for residents/property owners and non-residents/non-property owners are available for purchase at the center, along with Sanibel Dog Licenses.
New and current members can call 239-472-0345 or stop by the front desk for help with setting up their CivicRec account. A variety of memberships, passes and punch cards are available.
The center is open on Mondays through Thursdays from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Fridays from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
