A Captiva resort will hold a public information meeting regarding its rezoning request.

South Seas will host a voluntary community meeting today, Nov. 7, from 4 to 6 p.m. to discuss the Mixed Use Planned Development (MPD) rezoning application that it has filed with Lee County. According to a notice, the meeting will be held in an “open house” format. The resort team will be available to explain the project and rezoning status and respond to questions.

In its application, South Seas is requesting to:

“Rezone the 120.5+/-acre subject property from Multiple-Family Residential (RM-2), Residential, Two-Family Conservation (TFC-2) & Marine Commercial (CM) to a Mixed Use Planned Development (MPD) to allow for a maximum of 196 multi-family dwelling units and 435 hotel/motel rooms with private accessory resort uses and structures. The maximum building height is 45 feet.”

Parking for the meeting will be available to the right of the guardhouse inside of the resort.

A trolley will be available to transport attendees to the meeting location.
