UPDATE: County library system offering virtual programming

(Editor’s note: Due to Hurricane Milton, all Lee County Library System branches — including the Captiva Memorial Library — closed today, Oct. 7. All branches will remain closed through Oct. 10.)

The Lee County Library System, which includes the Captiva Memorial Library, is offering the following free virtual programming:

ADULT PROGRAMS

– Oct. 9: Online Author Event with Silvia Moreno-Garcia from 7 to 8 p.m.

Free your mind with highly acclaimed Silvia Moreno-Garcia, New York Times bestselling and award-winning author of several novels, including “Mexican Gothic,” “The Daughter of Doctor Moreau,” “Gods of Jade and Shadow” and more. She will chat about Latin American genre fiction and her writing process and journey, as well as her new book, “The Seventh Veil of Salome.” The event is part of the Online Author Events Series. Registration is required.

– Oct. 10: Online Spanish Conversation Club from 6 to 7 p.m.

Are you ready to take your Spanish-speaking skills to the next level? Improve your fluency by chatting with adults. Practice speaking Spanish with others on a variety of topics, including current events and everyday situations. Intermediate to advanced Spanish-speaking skills are recommended in order to get the most out of the session. Registration is required before Oct. 10 at 6 p.m.
