City provides update on beach parks post-storm
Today, Oct. 16, the city of Sanibel reported that Public Works crews are working to reopen beach parking lots on the island following the impacts of Hurricane Milton.
The Gulfside City Park (Algiers) and Bowman’s Beach Park are now open.
Use caution while walking the beach as debris may be buried in sand.
Also, the Department of Health in Lee County has issued an advisory against swimming at beaches. Stay advised of beach water quality by visiting https://www.floridahealth.gov/environmental-health/beach-water-quality/.
The following parking lots remain closed as crews work to remove sand and debris:
– Lighthouse Beach Park (bayside and Gulfside)
– Tarpon Bay Road Beach (Trost lot)
– Blind Pass
– Turner Beach
The city will provide notice to the public as more beach parking lots open.
