Sand and sand bags available on Sanibel, Captiva
Both of the island fire districts have free sand and sand bags available for the community.
The Sanibel Fire and Rescue District reported that the supplies are located in the parking lot at 2401 Library Way, Sanibel. A few shovels are available, but it it recommended that people bring their own. For questions, call 239-472-5525 or visit Station 171, at 2351 Palm Ridge Road, Sanibel.
The Captiva Island Fire District reported that the supplies are located across the street from the station in the parking lot, at 11505 Wightman Lane, Captiva. People should enter via Captiva Drive. For questions, call 239-472-9494 or visit the fire station, at 14981 Captiva Drive, Captiva.
