Junonia found on Sanibel

Melissa McCombs, of Henryville, Tennessee, found a junonia on Sept. 10 near Blind Pass on Sanibel. She found the shell in the waves among lots of other shells. “I had no idea of my special shell until two ladies spotted it in my hands and told me what I had found,” McCombs said. “They told me I was a new member of the ‘J’ club.” She noted that she had visited the island as a teenager, but it was the first time that her husband, Charles McCombs, and she had been. “We have been married 35 years,” McCombs added. “We take a trip every year to somewhere new.” To report a shell find, contact 239-472-1587 or trepecki@breezenewspapers.com.
