ORIGINAL (Sept. 26, 2024):

The Island Water Association reported that all of Woodring Road on Sanibel was placed on a precautionary boil water notice on Sept. 25. The notice is expected to clear by 4 p.m. on Sept. 28.

In addition, the IWA’s main office is closed today, Sept. 26, due to inclement weather conditions caused by Hurricane Helene. The office will resume normal business hours on Sept. 27.

“IWA encourages you to turn off irrigation systems. Water treatment operations will be limited during the storm, and irrigation systems left in operation can quickly deplete stored water,” it reported. “Expected rainfall is between 4 and 7 inches on Sanibel and Captiva, making irrigation an unnecessary waste of natural resources and money.”

“Your assistance in protecting our treated water supply is appreciated,” the IWA added.
